To take a rectangular surface and turn it into emotion by using shapes and color.

To create the illusion of movement, depth and dimension that stimulate curousity in the mind of the viewer. To stop, draw in and take another look.

 

 

biography

Larry Bontrager was born on a farm in Hutchinson Kansas. From the time he was old enough to hold a pencil Larry was drawing. Out of High School he took an art class in Junior College and through the years, private instruction from various artists. Moved to the west coast and lived in cities like Seattle, WA, Portland, Medford and Eugene, OR. Moved back to Hutchinson in 2005. Over the years Larry challenged himself and found his medium of choice is Pencil and Transparent Watercolor. Through practice, perspiration and persistence has develop his style. Artists he met along the way also contributed to his growth.

Larry is constantly looking for a challenge to express his gift.

Artists that inspire him include Jan Kunz, Steve Hanks, Alex Powers, Charles Reid and Al Stine.
